Vanessa Rodriguez, Soprano

Vanessa began singing at age 3 in her home town church in Far Rockaway, NY. As a teen, she joined the gospel choir at Brian Picollo Intermediate School where she was encouraged to audition at the prestigious Fiorello H. Laguardia High School for the Performing Arts. Her family moved to Florida during her high school years, yet her love for singing led her to audition for the School of Music at the University of South Florida where she earned a degree in Music Education in 2011. Vanessa also earned a Masters in Voice Performance at the prestigious School of Music Theater and Dance at the University of Michigan in 2019.

Ms. Rodriguez has performed as the featured soloist for sacred works in parishes across the Tampa Bay Area, was voted "Saint Petersburg Opera Idol” in 2012 and has become a regular performer for local opera companies such as: Opera Tampa, Opera Orlando, St. Petersburg Opera, South Florida Lyric Opera, StageWorks Theater and the Spanish Lyric Theater. She has been performing as an opera ambassador for Opera Tampa, regularly performing in outreach events, galas and concerts around the bay area. She is also very proud to have been the national anthem singer for the Tampa Bay Lightning games for the 2013 - 2018 seasons.

In 2015, Vanessa made her lead debut on the Hubbard Hall Opera stage in New York, playing the role of "Angelina" in "Trial by Jury". She played the role of Despina with Florida Opera Theater, the same year and played the role again the following year with Opera Tampa. For the 2018 - 2019 season, Vanessa played the roles of Blonde in a Star Trek version of The Abduction from the Seraglio by Mozart with Opera Orlando, made her StageWorks Theater lead debut as Maria in Four Guys Named Jose and Una Mujer Named Maria and performed Zarzuela arias in Opera Tampa's  "A Night in Spain" concert.
